The closest thing that came to this "Deluxe" edition before its publication was the "Absolute" edition, which was much more expensive and is not uncommon for many DC/Vertigo titles to have (like All-Star Superman and V For Vendetta). The story of the watchmen itself is in there of course, but the rough draft sketches make the book really cool.
