In my opinion, Faulkner was at his best when writing about children, and this tale of the Confederate homefront, through the eyes of a twelve-year-old boy, is touching, amusing, eye-opening, and enjoyable. It's also fun to get a glimpse into the Sartoris backstory. ..."
